UN calls for 233 million USD in Libya aid

http://news.xinhuanet.com/english2010/world/2011-05/19/c_13881883.htm

The United Nations has called upon an additional 233million dollars in help of 2.1 million people affected by the violence in Libya.  The violence has caused the loss of millions of dollars everyday in Libya.  The destruction of buildings, the shortage of cash and the scarce oil has caused Libya and its civilians to desperately plead for help.  The scarce money and oil is affecting everyone, and the poorest of the poor are being effected by it the most.  There has been a previous fund of money shipped out to Libya, reaching 160 million dollars in march.  The fund that has been proposed this time will hopefully keep and maintain Libya stable for the most part until September.  It seems that many people have been fleeing libya, while many still want money to be spent on improving the country.

Pakistani troops fire at Nato copters after airspace breach

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/pakistan/Pakistani-troops-fire-at-Nato-copters-after-airspace-breach/articleshow/8406896.cms

Pakistani troops opened fire at two helicopters that were drawn to be from NATO.  This lead to a brief fire fight between the troops and NATO forces, resulting in the troops being wounded.  The location of this event took place in Admi Kot Post, (northern territory in Pakistan).  The issue that the Troops had was the simple fact that the NATO helicopters had crossed from Afghanistan into Pakistan.  The Osama Bin Laden raid earlier this month, has lead to Pakistan being on high notice for every little action towards their country.  Pakistan and NATO have been feuding since last September as NATO killed two Pakistani troops in a so called "clash".  Knowing there is conflict between the USA and Pakistan has lead Senator John Kerry to Pakistan in an attempt to ease the conflict between the two.  The mini military conflict between Pakistan and NATO has not necessarily made things easier in the relationship with the United States.

NFL owners win legal round as appellate court grants stay for lockout

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-nfl-lockout-20110517,0,5985485.story

The continous battle between the NFL Players Association and the Owners has been going on since mid february, hense the  lockout is in its third month of no activity.  The Owners won today, enforcing the continuation of the lockout.  The Grand Prize of nine billion dollars is being fought over by the two sides, and as each day progresses, no deals seem to be getting negotiated.  Its simple, all the players want to do is play, but behind the scenes still want there pay check.  The owners have no problem in paying the players, the owners main objective is to find a way to divide nine billion dollars in several compelling issues including health care for retired players and tv sales.  The Lockout prevents players and coaches from doing their job, and the rookies are being denied their chance of pr acting with their new teams and learning their roles on there teams.

Osama bin Laden sought 'new 9/11' to force US out of Middle East

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/may/12/osama-bin-laden-new-9-11-middle-east

Osama Bin Laden was planning a huge/impactful terrorist attack on the united states, that would leave America no choice but to leave middle east.  In their way of protesting american activity and participation in the middle east, osama wanted such an event to occur, he also stated that if they were to commit mini terror acts, it wouldnt have such an impact as one well thought out event.  Intelligence gathered by the osama bin laden raid, found out that he was planning an attack on us trains and subways, but those plans really never got out of the initial talks.

http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5gmd_9kkqxA17B0GWYdjWK5yxcJsA?docId=CNG.7666cf41808dc7d84a13a2cd4ccc112e.1111

Senior Senator John Kerry said he will visit Pakistan next week.  He knows the tension between the United States and Pakistan is rather tight, regarding the controversial raid of Osama Bin Laden.  He says what better way to try and work things out is by actually having talks.  John Kerry knows a thing or two about Pakistan.  Hilary Clinton will probably make a visit to the Middle East pretty soon.  John Kerry will travel to the white house before he makes way towards middle east.  John Kerry says the death of osama bin laden will hopefully put America on the right track to withdrawing soldiers from afghan.

U.S. Braced for Fights With Pakistanis in Bin Laden Raid..!

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/10/world/asia/10intel.html

There has been a sense of criticism towards the way Obama and the Seal team handled the raid of former Al-Qaeda Leader Osama Bin Laden.  Obama essentially risked the Seal team being in combat with Pakistan Military/Authorities.  The United States did not make it clear to the Pakistanis that they were going to potentially raid the location of Osama Bin Laden.  Obama did not want any Pakistanis in this effort, did not want to risk history repeating itself (bay of pigs in Cuba in the 1960s.)  Obama was prepared for the potential combat with pakistani military, and had two more helicopters stationed in afghan ready for any backup once called upon.  Obama knowing he could have caused tension between the United States and Pakistan, looked risk in the face and went on with the mission of killing Osama Bin Laden, at all costs.

Colin Powell: Obama blew away the birthers

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110507/ap_on_re_us/us_powell_trump

Colin Powell, had a presentation at some historical black university.  In which he stated that these graduates have had some famous news leading up to their graduation.  He said that they have been caught up in famous world news like The Royal Wedding, and the assassination of Osama Bin Laden.  Colin then said a intresting comment, ""That was when President Obama took out his birth certificate and blew away Donald Trump and all the birthers!"  Now i believe that is true, its going to be very diffucult for anyone to beat out Barack Obama in the next presidential election.

Info from Osama raid shows interest in US trains

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_bin_laden_rail_threat

The aftermath of osama death...  When the raid took place, apparently there were plans on committing a terror act on the 10th anniversary of September 11.  Al-Qaeda essentially were "considering" attacking trains.  This "plan" was the first informed rumor/speculation since the osama death.  They had begun talks in February 2010, but never went on with the talks.  In 2009, there was a report that they were considering bombing the New York subway station.  The US intelligence is constantly over watching possible terror acts.

He is on the Riyadh's most wanted list  Khaled called the authorities and said he wanted to come home, the accuracy of what he is being tried for is yet to be determined but he has turned himself in.  There is rumour that he could be a brother or relative to mohammed, another wanted terrorist.

Our class discussion about immigration i believe went well.  People brought up interesting points and they had there followups towards the points.  There were opinionated solutions to immigration, but in all honesty immigration is a very tough topic to please everyone.  Issues like jobs, education, drugs, "American dreams" were brought up.  I believe one reason why immigration is so tough to deal with is because of peoples racism towards other nationalities. One thing for sure is that the United States Economy would lose money if all immigrants were removed from this country, but peoples racism makes them not think about the benfit that immigrants do to this nation.  As for the discussion, i respected everyone's thoughts and opinions towards the issue but just like our discussion people have been debating this issue for quite some time and it really picked up last year.  We can dispute all we want, because this topic isn't going anywhere.

Investigators find black box from Air France crash

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110501/ap_on_re_eu/eu_france_brazil_plane_crash

Back in 2009, a French airplane went down, killing 228 people.  Two years later, investigators have found the black box that could help them identify why the aircraft went down.  The investigators say that they dont really know if the black box will even put in good use because of all the pressure from the sea level, two years of pressure.  There was a thunderstorm that lead to the crash, but they still want more details.  Bodies of victims were also found under the sea.
